BeppoSapone Posted 17 April , 2005 Author Share Posted 17 April , 2005 The photo was of a whistle/disc combination when I saw it! Phil B <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was the first time I saw it too. john in minnesota Posted 17 April , 2005 Share Posted 17 April , 2005 Two years later and I'm still burning mad when I retell this ebay horror story: I bought a KIA uniform grouping from this same seller on ebay, which (in my opinion) was less than satisfactory. A Death plaque from a Lincolnshire soldier was the basis around which a uniform was built. The uniform tunic turned out to be extremely suspicious: freshly sewn Lincolnshire buttons, mismatched shoulder insignia, battle flashes made from random bits of scrap wool and best of all and a VERY dubious paper label. I paid $1700 ! Upon receipt I immediately emailed the seller and informed him of my dissatisfaction. His reply was that he guarantees the originality of all his items, BUT that he doesn't send items "halfway around the world for inspection" and that he would offer no refund/return. As I paid him in cash, what could I do? I was left with an original death plaque, photo and a tunic worth about $500 - so I was out $1000! I left the most accurate (though not slanderous) ebay feedback that I could muster - I indicated that I thought the grouping was put together and invited ebay users to email me for details... I was contacted by ebay-Germany a few weeks later informing me that the seller had filed a complaint of defamation in Germany (where slander laws are more stringent ?) - even though the item was listed on ebay-USA! - and that my feedback would be removed unless I could convince ebay otherwise. In my opinion, ebay sellers who conceal the identity of their bidders HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE!!!! - Perhaps they are worried about other ebay users (and forum members) warning potential buyers of suspicious activity. PhilB Posted 17 April , 2005 Share Posted 17 April , 2005 It`s East Anglia where all the WW2 airfields were. Phil B
ianw Posted 17 April , 2005 Share Posted 17 April , 2005 I'd hazard a guess at Lincolnshire specifically but yes, certainly East Anglia.
Max Posted 17 April , 2005 Share Posted 17 April , 2005 Bomber County is definately Lincolnshire. However, this detail has been changed very recently and was not originally Lincolnshire but somewhere way down south. Andy
