So, to get the ball rolling - a quick hunt on Ancestry and FMP throws up:

57775 Gnr Frederick Charles Engstrom, RGA, who served at Home from 01/11/15 to 16/11/15 when he was discharged sick; his SWB roll entry via Ancestry:

According to a pension card I can't access, he died 11/02/1968.

With a relatively close number, the only D. Embley I could find was 57808 Sgt Dick Embley, RGA, later 250079 RE; British War & Victory Medal rolls entry via Ancestry:

Yet again, it's my typo - thanks for picking up on it!

Third from the left, front row. Corporal Minshall. This sounds like a silly question, but is he blind? On my higher definition photo I can see his eyelids are open but his eyes are just white. Did they maybe allow injured soldiers from the front who did not want to leave the army to serve in coastal defense units? But how could they use a blind man?

I think this is G.P.O. - General Post Office.

He may be providing an insight into the telegraphy side, possibly the interaction with civilian telegraph networks.

That completes 2nd row but I'm not entirely happy about Williams? The others are  577 or 578 with one 576 but the one I suggested above is 572..

So we have a group of men with 57xxx numbers. Subsequent trf to RE for some fits with the Signal function of HAGs bring taken over by RE 1917.

Edit..and subsequently a small group of 64xxx
