morrisc8 Posted 1 April Author Share Posted 1 April (edited) This is a original stereo in my collection [ he took over 50 ww1 stereo photos ] taken by a British army doctor in 1919. This is the only one stereo like this so he must have put a cap over the lens of the stereo camera to take these two photos. Gas sign on road. I have rescand his collection Edited 10 April by morrisc8
Dai Bach y Sowldiwr Posted 1 April Share Posted 1 April Interesting to see that Agfa was part of the IG Farben industrial combine, which was itself only formed in 1925. Its name will be inextricably linked with the manufacture of Zyklon B for use in Second World War death camps including Auschwitz.
Stereoview Paul Posted 1 April Share Posted 1 April Great find - That's quite late for glass slides, possibly unsold stock - most Verascopes still in use had been upgraded to film backs by then.

I still have this film in the back of one of my cameras. It came with the camera so could be old.
morrisc8 Posted 2 April Author Share Posted 2 April (edited) This is a original stereo in my collection [ he took over 40 ww1 stereo photos ] taken by a British army doctor in 1918 - 1919. This is a stereo of the doctor and his staff, you can see his hand on the cord to set the camera off. All his stereo photos are negatives and i have made them positive. Not sure this is the right way round, nurse has a medal? I have rescand them to get a better photo. Edited 2 April by morrisc8
jay dubaya Posted 2 April Share Posted 2 April What a sweet moment in time… it’s not often you see the photographer in the final image. Many thanks for sharing your collection, there’s some real gems in there.
Interested Posted 2 April Share Posted 2 April The tunics button left over right, which seems the right way round to me. Wearing a medal on the right could mean she's wearing it in memory of the recipient?

Wearing a medal on the right could mean she's wearing it in memory of the recipient? It is the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Medal, correctly worn on the wearers right as it should be: Edited 2 April by Andrew Upton
