Here is another one. Alongside it are views of a hospital and a group of wounded men in their striped cotton "pajamas" ...

Nice,

one of my favorite areas of collecting. Freiwilliger Krankenpfleger 1916 or earlier. Try a close up of the belt buckle. Red Cross?

not certain

The buckle looks to be pretty certain,y Red Cross - but, I never realised they had a Red Cross badge where the Deutsches Reich State cockade would be, and so does that mean that the lower cockade is for the Land the chap comes from?

Being a Paramedic, you can imagine that my "Rotes Kreuz und Sanitäter" category in my collection is quite large :D The reverse of this RPPC is stamped for March 1915.

Hi both of you,

whereas Sturmmann presents a group from the Red Cross 1916 or before, the Prussian has got a photo of a guy taken late 1916 or after (round collar patches).

The most prominent figure in Sturmmann´s photo is the person with his coat over his arm. He is the Kolonnenführer. He also has a long service stripe on his sleeve. The person to the right of him could be a doctor. Too hard to  see from the size of the photo, but makes sense as they are the central figures in the group.

GreyC

Sturmmann and Prussian - nice ones there!

So, cap badges for this guys? In Andy's photograph (post 993) the man has - in additional to circular collar patches! - a variety of cap cockades? Top one Red Cross, but the others?

I purchase a set of cards and photographs, there appears to be a family resemblance between most of the men.

Nothing written on the back of this card, but a nice clear shot of his collar badges.

No details on either card, they seem to resemble the man in #1003.

And thanks too, Andy - when I am rich I will buy your magnus opus on these land chappies! In the meantime, I'll order it for the uni library.

Interesting.

Could be a Feldwebel (in front of  his apartment in Bukarest Dec. 1916) of the Etappen Sanitäts-Kraftwagen-Abteilung XV. (ESKA XV). He seems to be a tidy chap as the sign reads Clean your feet (boots).

Lastly, three small photographs, 5x7cm showing men outside the entrance/s to a dugout. There are what appear to be grave markers in two of the pictures.

Hello!

Grey C. Your link according to the Narotsch-See was for 1916.

Here we have the "Trench-battles between Njemen - Beresina - Krewo - Smorgon - Narotsch-See - Tweretsch" from 18.9.1917-5.12.1917

Engaged units:

10th army

Gen.Kdo. III.AK ; Gen.Kdo. XXI.AK (until 8.11.17) ; Gen.Kdo. 57 ; Gen.Kdo. 67

11.Ldw.Div., 14.Ldw.Div., 16.Ldw.Div. (until 16.10.17), 17.Ldw.Div., 21.Inf.Div., 21.Ldw.Div., 23.Res.Div., 31.Inf.Div., 46.Ldw.Div., 58.Inf.Div. (until 6.10.17), 85.Ldw.Div. (until 4.11.), 93.Inf.Div., 123.Inf.Div., 226.Inf.Div., 9.Ldw.Brig.

6.-17.12.1917: Truce

17.12.17-18.2.18: Armistice

We should have Feldartillerie-Batterie 817 (in 10th army from 1916- april 1918). They were equipped with russian 8,69cm guns!

What does the abbr. with 120 mean?
