Remembered Today:

Guess the cemetery

The serried ranks of stones might point to Cité Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentières, but I'm not 100 per cent sure.

I've got lots of the cemetery, Kevin, as my wife's great uncle is buried there. Don't have too many where tthe individuals names are too clear as they are 'lansscape' shots rather than of specific graves. But let me know which one you're after (grave reference too) and I'll see if I have any close by.

Cheers Chris, its

Patrick Hannah RFA III. A. 112.

Was that the service station that I met you at on the M40 that went up in smoke yesterday/today

Next one south, just after Banbury. I drove past it yesterday. Terrible great clouds of thick black smoke billowing across the M40, which you could see from many miles away. Looked like a few salvoes of coalboxes had hit it!

But we digress. I'll have a look at the photos and see if any show the patch.

Replying to Kevin's post re Bailleul Communal Cemetery. This is the closest I have. Look first at the pair of rows running from my feet up to the left of the Great Cross; then go across right to the next pair; and then again to the next pair. You are now in Plot III with row A facing the camera. The graves are numbered from 1 at the Great Cross end.

Andy,

The only place that your photo reminds me of is not Great War. So that probably makes me wrong!

It's not Stonefall Cemetery at Harrogate is it?

Cheers,

Nigel

Checks behind himself to see if anyone is looking over his shoulder at the screen... Nope.

Checks out the window to see if anyone is spotting with a scope... Nope.

How the %$£$!!! did you guess that?

Sheesh, I give up, you guys are too good.

As Nigel says, it's Stonefall. I walked round the military plot there two summers ago before my mother's funeral. She was a nurse at Harrogate Hospital 1944-46 and almost certainly nursed some of the men buried there.

I've spent many an hour in there, Andy.

Here's another, not a hard one but one of my favourite cemeteries, so beautiful.
