Walked to Gabuli 5 mile train to Fayoum arrive 8:45 walk to Azab (all hit). doss down in C Squad mess room for night. Wed 3rd May 1916. Reveille 6am. Parade 6:30 Breakfast 7am. Roll call 6:15 Inspection by Brig Gen Bromley Davenport and farewell speech. Dinner 11:30. Left us at 1:30 pm arrive Abbassick barrack 11pm. Officers give 2 pts per man for supper. Fri 5th May 1916. Reveille 6am. Roll call 6:15. Parade 9 and drew camel each. Parade for instruction (4pm) by A.S.M. tea 6pm. finish. drew tabac and cigarettes. Sat 6th May 1916. Reville 5am. Stables and groomed 6am feed 8 Breakfast 8:30 xxxxxx9am finish 10:15. dinner 12:45 Feed 5 tea 5:16 grooming camels a lot different to horses Sun 7th May 1916. Reveille 7am. Feed and breakfast 8:30. Reveille 5 am exercise rode on saddle (very easy) grooming 9:30 lecture by selection officer 11:30 gave swords in very hot indeed. Thurs 11th May 1916. Reveille 5am. Exercise etc. got a saddle and went with CO trotted. Pay 2:30 was vaccinated for the first time, miss orderly. Fri 12th May 1916. Reveille etc as usual. Exercise and feed 8am. Lecture by Adjt on fatigue. Had a parcel from home dated April 17th. Sat 13th May 1916. Exercise etc feed 8am. No grooming. Water 10:30 19. Sun 14th May 1916. Manage camel guard all night very little to do and camels very quiet. Vaccination beginning to hurt a bit. Memo. Cairo very hot got sunburnt during this week. I have had to add a few as I am having a new router tomorrow do to struggling with internet connections. Feed etc 8.30 grooming 9.30 xxx eleven. Lecture by OC. Company on ling guard 6.30 pm. Thurs 1st June 1916. Reveille 5 am. Marching order and move away 4 pm.
