Hi Sharon,

If you weren't already aware your great grandfather left what was accepted as being his Will.

image.png.eff4a50f2e85ebb7370c60038503f468.png

There's a quite a strong possibility that it may only consist of a very few words along the lines of 'in the eventually of my death, I leave everything to...' (probably his wife), but you never know. For a modest fee, a low resolution B&W scan is available from here.

Regards
Chris

Hi Sharon. There maybe a photograph of Albert held in a private family tree on Ancestry. Currently Ancestry are offering a two week free trial. This may assist you if you wanted to message the tree owner. Regards Gunner.

You are not being ignorant at all. It has nothing to do with his medal. I just wondered if doing your genealogy you'd seen it - the document itself, specimen handwriting (and what you may be able to intimate from that), etc.

As to a photo, have you tried looking in local newspapers around the time of his enlistment and/or, his death?

Good luck with your research.

Regards
Chris

Happy New Year GWF & to you Tom

Nice list to add to the database, will publish a revision later in the year, along with the others I have accumulated.

Which reminds me Tom I have to get my “Vermont” list to you, when I finally finish it, let’s just say I had to put it on the back burner for sometime while I have dealt with other issues.

Yes it was a new one for me too - only one battalion existed I believe. The CWGC has recently been creating a book of remembrance for Sierra Leone, but I have yet to see a finalized list to see if Penna Kailahun is mentioned

Yes, it appears only one Battalion did indeed exist.. Interesting to see the [somewhat] obscure British Formations.

Before I forget, I collected a Pair a few months back.
BWM + VM to L/4718 Able Seaman Edward Brian, RNVR [Posted to H.M.S Malaya after Jutland]
