It seems to be a French publication.

Index here https://issuu.com/togroupe/docs/index_articles_militaria   a Google Search result said Un index de tous les articles des magazines Militaria. ... Sweeney L'uniforme du soldat écossais

Also says Back issues available on our website www.histoireetcollections.com,  this seems to be  https://histoireetcollections.com/en/ but only more recent issues.

Yes I believe it was a French magazine and I’m not sure if there was / is an English translation**.  Forum member @uncle bill used to work as a translator for the magazine so he might know something, although he’s not visited the forum since 2019, so I don’t know if he’s hale and hearty.

I wonder if forum member @battle of loos might have a copy of that edition?  Michel is always very helpful.  Similarly @Tom A McCluskey who was last seen here 2018.

**apparently there was but with a very small print run.

Has anyone got of a copy of Brig Gen Joe Sweeney's article about kilts published in the April 2008 Issue of Militaria Magazine that would be happy to share with me.

I am founder trainer for the College of Master Kilt Tailors and I feel this would be valuable information for the students.

I hope that this Gentleman’s Military Interest Club thread might be of interest to you too Marion and I wish you well with your endeavours: https://gmic.co.uk/topic/32407-kilts-for-the-2nd-bn-seaforth-highlanders/

Good evening

I own the article but it is in French.
I'll scan it tomorrow and I'll be available for anyone who wants it.

It is primarily for @Marion Foster Michel.  Perhaps you can send her a private message with an email address to act as a point of communication.

Thank you for the offer Michel - message inbound

I might be able to have a go at a rough translation and can probably reduce the file size so it is more manageable also

The article above "L’Uniforme du Soldat Ecossais de la Grande Guerre (1re partie)" by Joseph Sweeney is now available in the Internet Archive (Archive.org)

For URL see 2 posts below.

Yes I understand and agree that his work was groundbreaking and he is still missed now, but it’s wonderful that as a result of your cooperation with Maureene the published details have been archived online in an accessible way.  Thanks to you both.
