Attested to the Regular Army as number 8929 in the Loyal North Lancs. Re-enlisted in the Artillery on 11/10/1910 with new number 62709. Born Enfield, family living Ponders End in 1907- see list of siblings in service record. Charlie Edit- he deserted 1911 !! Hi how can I obtain these records without having to pay for enrollment of the particular site they are on I would love to be able to give these to his cousin ( twice removed) Ian Acworth who is still trying to find out more kind regards lisa

Just don't get caught and slip into a subscription - unless your experience here on GWF has, and a trial does, lead you off onto a slippery slope [along with many of us here ]. keithmroberts Posted 29 October , 2022 Share Posted 29 October , 2022 if you are in the UK, and mobile, you will probably find that your local library service have an account with either Ancestry or FindMyPast or even both, that you can use free of charge. From my own experience, in my locale, this option seems to have been dropped "post-Covid lockdown" - but worth an enquiry. Oh wow how amazing is that ! I wanted to research the army numbers I have William Acworth Attested to the Regular Army as number 8929 in the Loyal North Lancs. And then Re-enlisted in the Artillery on 11/10/1910 with new number 62709. I just can’t seem to find anything I’m hoping an experienced researcher could maybe do a search for me and see if anything comes back even if it’s just a bit of information I can then record these findings to pass to the cousin of William ( twice removed) .
