Another possible diary of interest.

76th Infantry Brigade billeted in Eecke 21/10/1915 - 20/11/1915. Whole brigade training, sports, entertainment etc.

8th Novemeber 1915.

Between Eecke and Steenvoorde. Demonstration of a new smoke helmet tool place. During the demonstration a British plane came down in a field close by, pilot and observer both killed. I think these are these two men. Buried in LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY.

Hello,

Do you have a link to the newspaper about this accident?
I would be interested. Thank you.

Sorry but no. Not even sure it would be reported in a newspaper.

His service records are at

https://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.item/?op=pdf&app=CEF&id=B2569-S037

He was 43 Canadian Infantry Battalion but was actually accidentally killed at 9th Brigade Grenade School.

The exact circumstances of death are shown at

https://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.item/?op=img&app=microform&id=31829_B016737-00988

It seems he was killed by a badly thrown grenade.

Thank you very much. While searching for the battalion I came across this cap badge. Can you confirm that it is this battalion?

The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada — WikipédiaThe Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada?

Thank you

Hello everyone, I am again intrigued.
For several soldiers of the cemetery of Eecke it is written "died in the cantonment". Can you help me? I am looking for maps of the cantonments of Eecke? To find out in which precise sector he could have died.
Thank you for your help!

Hello to all,

This man is buried in Steenvoorde https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/617883/reginald-coombes/

But the diary of the 42nd brigade of the Royal Fields artillery
indicates that he was in Eecke

does anyone have more information on the death of this man? thank you.

Note his correct number is 39858. Cwgc have mistranscribed from their own records! He is shown as 'Died' on SDGW.  I could not find a pension card. So probably in a FA or CCS when he died?
