I see, on the Luchtvaartgeschiedenis.be website, that it gives the site ("Locatie") as Oude Kortrijkstraat Zonnebeke. According to Google Earth, that is just south of Polygon Wood. Is that the site of the crash, or the burial, do you think. Gunners in Polygon Wood did claim the kill. Michael I have no idea why they add specifically that streetname. I would guess the crash happened more to the northwest of Polygon Wood. Edited 28 August , 2017 by AOK4

Most Germans are buried individually. (there are more than one name on each cross or stone to save on costs) Jan Thought that these pictures of the austere German Cemetery at Achiet-le-Petit taken just over a week a go when on a battlefield tour with my grandsons following in the footsteps of British family WW1 heroes might be of interest? Sadly only 1 old tribute amongst the many crosses & the booklet? once contained in the vault under the cross as a record of those interned, missing! Lest we forget.
