GreyC Posted 26 May , 2018 Share Posted 26 May , 2018 (edited) Hi, don´t have time to go thru all of the photos. 2nd: Taken at Hartmannsweilerkopf from left to right H. Albrecht Ex[zellenz] [von] Teichmann, Robert. General Karl v. Teichmann was commander of 26th Landwehrdivision from 9th January 1917 to 18th July 1918. The other officers (including the General to the far left) might be staff of the 26th LwDiv or from neighbouring units or subunits of the 26th LwDiv. Robert seems to be a (lieutenant) colonel. In 1178 first photo shows 2nd platoon of 5th coy IR183 at Verdun. Text reads To remember the peace of Verdun 23.6. [1916] 1914-17. Peace of Verdun was probably meant ironic as it was the day the last (ultimately failed) offensive of the Germans was started. Next photo signed by the guys with dedication to a female pub owner (Zur Krone=The Crown) Last photo a monument to a rifle unit, dedicated almost 102 years to the day in Siemikowec (?). You are very welcome! It is going to take me a while -- these are the new photos - the stack on the right(40) all have writing (lots) on the back and Briefmarks etc, the stack on the left (31) are blank on the back. The few in the ziploc bag are cut down or odd sizes etc! Scanning may take a while! Then there is this one! 4thGordons Posted 28 May , 2018 Author Share Posted 28 May , 2018 (edited) Few more that caught my eye Beer! (and muzzle caps on the Gew 98s) only one cockade visible here? Post war perhaps--- or?... 44 collar numerals also shown here Lots of different shoulder board numbers here - perhaps a MG school?/ Class? Details and some nicely clear Pickelhalben covers, and GEW 88s, and drummer and bugler. Edited 28 May , 2018 by 4thGordons

Chris This one sounds like a lover´s tiff: The 3.7.17 My dearest Julie! Why so taciturn. Received your last letter on the 23rd, and today the 3rd, so 10 days later, still nothing. Have I been forgotten over the holidays. Hope for a letter soon. Best regards and kiss Your Emil Although to her defence, what with the blockade etc., she might have had more pressing matters at home than writing a letter to (her beau? her husband?). Leaves the question: who of these 8 fine gentlemen is Emil?
4thGordons Posted 3 June , 2018 Author Share Posted 3 June , 2018 Thanks JWK! Sturmmann 1918 - I wonder if your chap isn't perhaps a railway employee or some other state official? The upper cap badge (looks like a large crown?) combined with the chest badge suggests something like that to me. This picture - dated July 1918 seems to me to show some very young soldiers

I would guess that they are perhaps just 1 company of an infantry battalion. Heilbronne 1915 Found this link today and I see Fusilier regiment 122 feature. http://dfg-viewer.de/show/?set[mets]=http://digital.wlb-stuttgart.de/mets/urn:nbn:de:bsz:24-digibib-bsz3828294688 Edited 4 June , 2018 by Martin Feledziak

GreyC Posted 4 June , 2018 Share Posted 4 June , 2018 (edited) Hi, the card postmarked "Niederschelden" does not show "Young recruits" as noted in English. It shows the member of a large "Jugendwehr-Übung". The Jugendwehren were paramilitary youth organisations. The respective text in German is that in purple. GreyC Posted 5 June , 2018 Share Posted 5 June , 2018 (edited) Hi. It originally was a poster that was made into a postcard. There is a whole series of these Kriegsanleihe posters that were turned into postcards. I know at least 7-8.
