Chris is of course absolutely right, and if the fig roll was visible in my cheek while I posted I apologise.

Keith

Oh, Keith. I thought better of you!

you mean you actually eat those fig things????

Or was it just for a bet?

There must be some good explanation why someone of such perspicacity and taste could possibly descend to eating one of those objects.

There are few pleasures to match a mug of tea and a fig roll. I have approached the conference organiser to ensure that a supply is provided for the afternoon break.I am hopeful.

I shall have to reconsider my attendance.

I had not realised that the GWF officially sanctioned the consumption of those awful comestibles. When did this become policy?

I feel that an Extra ordinary AGM may need to be called to fully discuss the matter.

You will be out voted, so just enjoy them.

Cheers Roger.

If you`ve room for a little `un, and a first-timer at that, I would like to attend, please.

It would be for the conference only, and I could post a cheque tomorrow.

Thank you, Alan. My cheque is in the post. Looking forward to my first one.

Speaking as a native, I can tell you that there is a half decent pub very nearby, which has a choice of between four and six real ales on tap, and comfy armchairs and sofas to sit on.

I'm very pleased to announce our final speaker is Michael LoCicero, the author of the recently published "A Moonlight Massacre - the Night Operation on the Passchendaele Ridge, 2 December 1917 - the Forgotten Last Act of the Third Battle of Ypres". Michael will be talking about the events of that night.

Please see the first post in this topic for details of how to book your place at the conference

Thanks

Alan

Hooray! Just don't forget to wear the 20th Maine shirt - it made a deep impression on Michael when you met up in Gallipoli!

Hi Chris - I'll be emailing about the balance this weekend - but am happy to take balances anytime. And yes, Paypal or cheque would be fine

To my great regret, I will not be able to attend after all.

Entirely my fault. I completely miscalculated my shift pattern, and am now too late to book it as a holiday.

Hopefully, my missing out will give someone else a place.

Is there still space for one more at the conference? If so, I can post my cheque today

Many thanks,

David

That's a shame, hopefully next year....
