Battleship souvenirs

Now that is just plain 'neat', what are the dimensions?

khaki

Well, I am not going to claim that it has quite the same cache as the bell from Dreadnaught, but I have never seen another. Stand by now for a deluge of gear wheel owners.

It is about 2 5/8" high, and the gear wheel is 5" in diameter. As to what it was for, I must admit that I have no idea. The auction catalogue described it as a cigarette holder, but I am not convinced about that.

I quite like the way the bottom is turned, it reminds me of the base of a shell case, even down to the plaque looking a bit like a det, especially as my eyesight is not what it was.

Every so often it gets a bit of beeswax and I get a bit of time to think about "Splendid Cats"

Tone,

Have you tried NMRN Portsmouth with Amphion?

sJ

No, but I should. I tried NMM and they considered it but declined.

Here is a couple of barrels that I recently purchased HMS Iron Duke and RMS Mauretania, although I see that ARABIS mentions that he has one I thought I would post a photo anyway,
