At one stage we were collecting these misfiles (incl on the main F&F section) on the LLT's forum, which then went in to suspended animation; @charlie2

can perhaps suggest where these are best collated now ?

I still collate them on the Manchesters forum http://themanchesters.org/forum/index.php?topic=8401.0

Thanks Russell

Total blank on this one so far. Lots of ref's for POW's at Gallipoli and Kut but nothing for Palestine. Will be at Kew next week so will see what I can find there.

Regards

Dave

Hi guys,

I am looking for details of my grandfather Gunner Michael McGovern, R.A. who survived as a Turkish POW in Constantinople.

As he died on 1948, there are no more details.can anyone suggest a line of enquiry ?

Thanks

You could read the FIBIS Fibiwiki page "Prisoners of the Turks (First World War)" which includes some details about sources

https://wiki.fibis.org/w/Prisoners_of_the_Turks_(First_World_War)

Hopefully you will be able to locate him on ICRC Prisoners of the First World War  website.

As he is Royal Artillery you could check out whether he was still in the Army when the new Attestation, or Enlistment books (Army Book 358) were introduced see https://wiki.fibis.org/w/British_Army#Attestation.2C_or_Enlistment_books_.28Army_Book_358.29_from_1920

and see the FIBIS Fibiwiki page British Army for records generally https://wiki.fibis.org/w/British_Army

Cheers

Maureen
