harkerr@btinternet.com Posted 8 May , 2009 Share Posted 8 May , 2009 Hi Dave This thread and your CD have worked their magic on me, I couldn't resist any longer. Will be visiting Monchy next weekend armed with camera searching for something you haven't already snapped!! Just a quick query - are your photos of the wood, Monchy Wood itself or the small one between the two cemeteries? Is access a problem, would we need to seek permission off someone? If its the small one is access into Monchy Wood possible as well/is there anything to see? Regards Richard
59165 Posted 10 May , 2009 Author Share Posted 10 May , 2009 Hi again,Richard. It's a shame I wont be there next week as I would have liked to have shown you where & where not to go,easier than a long typed message but, here we go. Bois de Sart(e?) is ok but not when the hunt is on.Chance of being shot in there if you go at the wrong time.Best to stop in at the Mairie & ask or,just ask a local. I took a coupla forum mates there on friday but, just like the wood with Orange trench etc.,it's a bit too late in the year to make anything out. Best time is winter/early spring before everything starts growing green/falling etc. but, never mind. You can walk in the lower area of Monchy wood (as a great deal of locals do with their dogs) & there is a wee bit of parking just next to the entrance on the Roeux rd.going out of the village. Best are the lanes.Easy access but, beware of ruts in the paths,a real tyre muncher. Good luck with it all & I'd welcome any good snaps you get as I cant add any more until I get a new camera. Dave. ps,Bruce. Yeah.It was from here. d.
