Speaking as one with no small experience in the pencil thing, this is a nice piece of work. I can't speak for mules but horses are a terror to draw. Also, the mix of blur/smudge with contrasting detail works very well. It looks as if it were photographed (don't take that the wrong way) through a wet lens. Very evocative and I'll weigh in with the other folks that the sense of motion is very effective.

Great Picture Chris, thanks for sharing it with us (I wish I could draw, even my stick men look "wrong")

Is it just me or does that mule look well "hacked" off with his job?

Oooh, that's marvelous. I've got the usual artistic skill envy that I get from these boards, but this drawing is especially great.
