Changing a thread title can be done by the thread originator, by going back to your initial post and hovering over the bottom edit button should allow a Advanced Editor button to appear.

Using that should gain access to the thread title to add specific details to attract specialists.

Regimental Numbers were duplicated within Battalions, as until WW1 there weren't too many complications in 1st or 2nd Battalions using the same number sequence so Private J Smith 1001 1st Bn might have another J Smith 1001 in the 2nd Bn but fairly easy to resolve especially if one was in UK and the other Overseas.

Once the Army expanded, it became obvious that J Smith 1001 could also be in any of the many other Battalions in that Regiment, so the unique SERVICE Number was introduced.

So it's possible that there was a different man as 11531 in either the 1st or 2nd Bns (whichever one Andrew WASN'T in!) however it was worth posting the information in case it gelled with something you knew. It doesn't mean that they were side by side at all times, but the possibility exists that they were close when Michael Quirke was killed.

I don't know sufficient Irish geography to confirm whether the two (or 3) joined up together, but you mention Boyle which doesn't seem close to Gorey, so it may just be an accident they queued up together.

It would make sense to at least cross link your threads so people don't spend time finding info already known.
