Landsturm Posted 20 July , 2006 Share Posted 20 July , 2006 I say there are elements that would keep it under the title "Then and Now". Good work...

John84 Posted 21 July , 2006 Share Posted 21 July , 2006 I don't know if this is allowed for the MGWAT, but I found a poem today in a local newspaper by a Sergeant serving with the Royal Marines....I thought I would put it here on his behalf. John. A TURK'S EPITAPH. On October 1st, 1915, whilst the Marines were in the trenches on the Gallipoli Peninsula, a Turk was shot dead whilst gathering curios between each firing line. Hence a verse was composed by Segt. Trevet, A Coy., 2nd Batt. R.M. Here lies the body of a Turk unknown, Whose spirit to Kingdom Come hath flown; He robbed our dead, without a doubt, But evidently forgot his way about; To regain his trench he vainly tried, But the Royal Marines saw him, and so he died. Sergt. TREVET.

Augustine Posted 28 July , 2006 Share Posted 28 July , 2006 Is there any place I can go to check out the winning pieces from previous contests? I pulled up the June voting thread but didn't see a winner listed--although it's also entirely possible that I glossed right over it at this sleepy hour. Is there some kind of winners' gallery? (Might be a fun idea if there isn't...)

Ozzie Posted 28 July , 2006 Share Posted 28 July , 2006 Augustine, At the end of every month a new thread is put up for people to vote. If you go to this one it will show you, but you may have to vote to see the results. http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...showtopic=54963 Alternately go to the War Art section on the main index and trawl through there. Garron Posted 28 July , 2006 Share Posted 28 July , 2006 The Title is then and now My entry is the Pistol of the British Army Then and Now The webley MkVI and the Browning L9A1, Sorry the last one is a bit rushed, I am hopeless as drawing people, much rather in-animate objects like firearms Regards Garron
