What a stroke of luck I have just finished this 80mm white metal figure.

German infantryman sheltering in a shell hole photographed against a photo from a book.

More pics Here

Thank you for the comments. I'll post some more pics of the figure, probably tomorrow.

I'll start a new thread so as not to confuse things with the MGWAT and leave this phot as my entry.

Thank you Kim, I've posted a couple more pics on another thread so as not to clog up this one with my pics.

Here's my effort. I'm fitting out my house extension at present-and for the forseeable-so I may not have much time to draw -it takes me long enough to do so. This months is a poem entitled The Fissure

The Fissure

"Tonight boys ,we're on a raid"

The young Lieutenant said,

And all our section looked around,

Wondering which of us was dead.

" We must be Lords of No Mans Land",

"On the Boche impose our will",

For some the cold dark grip of fear,

For some the chance to kill.

We met in a dark fissure,

Cast adrift between the lines.

I looked and saw his fear and rage,

He looked back and he saw mine.

Not for me my youthful stories,

Of the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Just two mens careful circling,

With entrenching tool and blade,

A slip, upon the angled slime,

For once, his speed was less than mine.....

He looked up at me, clutching,

His kith and kin displayed.

Tears in my eyes, I raised my arm,

And hit him with a spade.....

Years later, I came to visit,

The places I once knew.

Shed tears for the Hun, my Mates, the War,

And the things it had me do.

Hey ho, back to building a partition wall

That one's a imaginative piece, Spike. You could seee him raise the spade.

Des, you are getting just betterer and betterer!

Mandy????????

Andrew, that took some thought! I am told art is in the eye of the beholder, ( or was that beauty?)

Cheers

I had though of a shell-hole scene, but I'm afraid mine's not as good as Roger's (and I'm awful at drawing rifles!)

That looks pretty good to me Gloria. Besides I can only paint model figures, I can't draw for toffee :)
