linge Posted 6 November , 2005 Share Posted 6 November , 2005 Dave I did manage to find some of the family on the 1901 Cenus, you may already have this: 30, Britain Street, Portsmouth Bessie Robinson, Head, aged 29, Born Dorset Abbotsbury Jack Robinson, Son, aged 8, Born Dorset Abbotsbury Robert Robinson, Son, aged 6, Born Dorset Abbotsbury Gregory (Gill) Robinson, aged 2, Born Dorset Abbotsbury No sign of your greatgrandfather John or great uncle Tom. I did find a Tom Robinson in Portsmouth Military Hospital - Female Hospital Lion Terrace Tom Robinson, Patient, aged 4, Child of soldier, Born Hants Gosport Maybe this is him and John was a regular soldier and was at the time of the 1901 Census out in South Africa? Bessie Gill married John Robinson in the March Quarter of 1892 in the Weymouth Registration District. She was the daughter of Geoffrey and Mary Gill of Roddon Row, Abbotsbury Dorset. I couldn't find him in the National Roll of the Great War - Portsmouth. Have you tried the local Southsea newspapers for any articles in 1914 relating to John and Jack Robinson's deaths?
