Terry_Reeves Posted 28 July , 2019 Share Posted 28 July , 2019 (edited) No it is not and do not dismiss a masons mark so lightly. Marks were not always left to identify the mason, but as a construction mark. TR Edited 28 July , 2019 by Terry_Reeves

Dave66 Posted 28 July , 2019 Share Posted 28 July , 2019 (edited) 1 hour ago, Dai Bach y Sowldiwr said: We'll a benchmark isn't going to be inside a building. The mark is also too crude and too big. Could the stone have been reused from somewhere else? Many older buildings were demolished and stripped of their assets, and quite common to see their stone reused locally so may well be an old masons mark. Dave.
