Aurel Sercu Posted 17 May , 2005 Share Posted 17 May , 2005 Tom, Yes, no doubt linked to Jewish tradition. I had based my info on a recent article written by Roger Verbeke of the In Flanders fields Museum Documentation Centre "De grafstenen voor Joden" (Jewish headstones in Belgium and Holland ; civilian and miltary) A few civilian headstones photos went with the article, but unfortunately none with the Flemish (Dutch) equivalent of GRHDSIP. Guest Posted 18 May , 2005 Share Posted 18 May , 2005 So there we have it. The first "S" is a worn "G".
BeppoSapone Posted 18 May , 2005 Share Posted 18 May , 2005 "G.R.H.D.S.I.P." in "Google" comes up with two hits, both sites that include Jewish stones - one Irish and the other in Portuguese - I think.
