Dave66 Posted 3 April Share Posted 3 April I recently unearthed a rusty old players cigarette tin which contained various ww1 related souvenirs brought back from the front. I started a thread with regard a mystery patch, the whole contents, for context, can be seen here….https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/310160-help-to-identify-unknown-insignia-please/ Most things were easily identified, but there are a couple of items that even after cleaning and lots of googling have me stumped, so putting them to the wider audience here in the hope that others may recognise them. The first is a small piece of tin, 37mm x 60mm, embossed with world war 1914-1915, there would have been a small 2 or 3 mm lip to three sides at the rear, leaving the top edge only un folded….some sort of tin sliding lid?….field grey in colour. The second is a small white disc with a corrugated type of centre, approx 17mm diameter, unsure of material…. my first thoughts were a stick grenade pull cord thingy, or some part of a cockade. Help!
