Apologies folks not much to go on. Came with 2 other photos from an auction. The other 2 were Northumberland Yeomanry and  3rd Northumbria Royal Artillery. I am thinking this chap is also a relation as exactly the same photo type and frame. The RFA chap is signed Renney and have tracked him down but this looks Scotts.??

Although the cap badge is blurry, I would say his regiment is the Tyneside Scottish. That fits geographically with your photos in the group.

It does appear to be Tyneside Scottish, although it’s unusual for there not to be collar badges.  Perhaps it was an early photo circa 1915 when the battalions were training at Alnwick and the glengarry was more commonly worn.  See also:

Thank you so much, your passion admirable. It may well be 1915.  One of the other 2 is signed  "Xmas 1915".

The photos were clearly loved and needed to be saved.

I enjoy the challenge of finding "who" and keeping them going a bit longer.

This photo beat me and he cap badge almost looks like the name is separate at the bottom but I think your bang on, its the X above that gives the impression of.
