He appears on two War Office Casualty Wounded Lists 10th May 1918 and Oct 17th 1918. His Next of Kin place of residence is given as Whitchurch [Shropshire].

On 8 9 1920 he enlists, in RWF TA as Pte 4181307. He is then aged 30, born Mold. Discharged  11 4 1921  on re-enlistment into 5th Defence Force RWF.

That’s a new one on me Hywyn, what was the Defence Force 5th RWF, was it some new and additional (to TA) category of auxiliaries?  Perhaps committed to home defence only whereas the new TA was unlike TF committed to overseas if required from the outset.  This is just me reading between lines and I’ll be interested to learn what you can dig up.

Defence Force

Was the DF not an April 1921- 90 day enlistment phenomemon to counter potential industrial action/reaction by/from rail workers and miners' industrial action?

See LLT https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/army/other-aspects-of-order-of-battle/defence-force-1921

Edit:  Typically with affilation to a local unit [one of my relatives did a DF stint and he was recorded as such with a local unit on the 1921 Census]

Thank you, yes I remember that now, it was a nice little earner for a short while.  I imagine that the subject would have had to reenlist with the TA after 90-days if he wanted to go on serving.  I wonder if he did.
