haggis999 Posted 23 December , 2022 Author Share Posted 23 December , 2022 Many thanks for pursuing that lead on my behalf. What sort of information might be included in that 'Post 1921 Service File'? Page 7 of 7 of your linked PDF file is virtually blank, without even a page number. Is something useful missing from that page?

As for content, well hopefully it would contain his Great War service history along with his post 1921 record. The London Gazette edition was the Supplement to the London Gazette dated 21st November 1917, so allowing a few months I checked out the March 1918 British Army Monthly List. There is a 2nd Lieutenant T. J. Anderson with seniority from the 30th April 1916 who is shown with the 8th Battalion, Kings Royal Rifle Corps. (Column 1390e). https://digital.nls.uk/british-military-lists/archive/103602122 According to the Long, Long Trail the 8th Battalion were in France & Flanders, part of the 14th (Light) Division. Battalion and Division took a battering during the German Spring Offensive, so perhaps its not surprising the 8th Battalion was reduced to a cadre on the 27th April 1918. https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/army/regiments-and-corps/the-british-infantry-regiments-of-1914-1918/kings-royal-rifle-corps/ War Diary for the 8th Battalion covering May 1915 to June 1918 can be found in the National Archive catalogue here :- https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7352730 His promotion to Lieutenant appears in the Supplement to the London Gazette 19 June 1918. The British Army Monthly List for December 1918 shows him on the Depot strength of the Kings Royal Rifle Regiment, a Lieutenant with seniority from the 30th October 1917. It’s a good diary for names so I suspect his departure may be forthcoming : I would be particularly interested to hear about more war diary entries that mention my uncle. They add a much more personal touch than most other records.
haggis999 Posted 23 December , 2022 Author Share Posted 23 December , 2022 (edited) Thanks, Peter, for delving even deeper into his service record. It's good to hear that he got promoted to Lieutenant. When I get some free time, I must check out the War Diary info in the National Archives.
