Lorre Posted 14 July , 2022 Share Posted 14 July , 2022 Can anyone clarify this please? Some people say that this bunker is the one underneath the Cross of Sacrifice But accordingly to Peter Oldham its not. Any thoughts? Surched on the site under Cross of Sacrifice Bunker but no reply's, so any help is much appreciated.
AOK4 Posted 14 July , 2022 Share Posted 14 July , 2022 D.17.a.4.2 is quite a bit from the cemetery. I believe Peter Oldham.

Lorre Posted 14 July , 2022 Author Share Posted 14 July , 2022 Another (stupid) question, but are those two the same bunkers? If You look closer at the first T of COTT, its a bit lower than the T on the second image. And also the first image is missing the "S" after COTT. Yes, they are the same 2 bunkers as shown in your original post, with the same positions on the pages.

jay dubaya Posted 14 July , 2022 Share Posted 14 July , 2022 8 TYNE COTT STH is how I see this label, STH for south maybe? I believe the location of this particular bunker was in the vicinity of D.17.a.05.10 and D.17.a.00.20, again some way from the bunker under the Cross of Sacrifice. I've written some more observations here in Lorre's other thread. Indigo and Irksome are the two bunkers that have remained on plain view in the cemetery to this day. The Tyne Cott group of bunkers were named as such whilst the bunkers in the vicinity of the cemetery were named differently but perhaps numbered as part of the group. I can find no know wartime images of the bunker used by the British as an ADS which formed the base of the Cross of Sacrifice. This is the bunker under the Cross of Sacrifice -
