That it was A Company on night of 28/29th and 2Lt Carr wounded and brought in 4 hrs later (as Worthington noted in earlier post) are looking a good fit for the award.

Yes, the SR dates and the known circumstances seem to make that very likely to be the date & action. 10 Green Cards at end of July too:

I attach a photograph of Lt G A Carr which maybe of interest to Ray Sharpe if it is the officer Cpl Elliott saved.  This was taken in December 1918 at Jumet in Belgium.  I will also post a photograph of A Company taken at the same time, when my scanner is working.

A Company

Do you think that we have the right action and date? If there was a trench raid would there be a specific report?

I have been following this with some interest. I was reading the WDs of 37 Div RE for 1917 looking for Sappers with numbers originally issued to 30 Div.

I noticed three MMs named in the WD of 153 FC on 08/08/1917 - 121183 L/Cpl Carpenter, C 155182 L/Cpl Terrell, W and 44356 Spr Pilling, J. They are all in the LG 30287 dated 14/09/1917 which I thought was a bit quick.

There was no other mention of them in WDs of 153 FC from April 1917 and thinking 08/08 was the date of the Authority I downloaded the WDs of 9 Corps A&QMG (WO 95/839) from May to September 1917. There are no Routine Orders showing Honours and Rewards. It confirmed that 37 Div was part of 9 Corps.

So no trace of L/Cpl Elliott either.

Hi Brian, Yes they are in the same gazette, but with earlier schedule nos. and a different AO ref.

Ref. 68/121/265 covers the 3 from 53rd FC RE: (schedule nos. in red)

101442 William Terrell 155182

101443 Joseph Pilling 44356

I will check the 11th Bde. MGC war diary: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7354105   EDIT - no mention of MMs.

                        10th Royal Fusiliers: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7354101

The 13th Rifle Brigade WD has no mention of MMs, but detailed lists of those killed & wounded with dates.

13th Royal Fusiliers: https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C7354102  EDIT - no MMs mentioned, but MAP showing BEEK & RIFLES FARMS (& KRRC):

I would like to thank everybody for the information given on Daniel Elliott as he was a family member and on the family tree - I can now enter all the correct information of him and his War time and Medals

Although this subject appears closed, I said that I would post a photograph of C Company 13 KRRC taken in December 1918.  The five officers from left to right on the photograph are, I believe, - 2/Lt Kyles, 2/Lt Hobbis, Captain A L Seager DSO, Lt Rawlings and Lt G A Carr.  1530915836_CCompany13KRRC1918JumetBelgium.jpg.fba67e42b013b8245c15982abd4bdebf.jpg

Lovely, photograph, thank you for posting.

It is likely to help other people who are researching in the future and looking for a photograph of a relative.
