There is a chapter on Vimy/Arras and that includes Monchy. I haven't checked the CDs.

Just noticed on amazon.com this book with The German Army on the Somme were availble together for $85 (L48) and free shipping. Both books I am after, so this might be a deal I can't turn away.

It looks like I must be the only person disappointed so far - perusal at Waterstones revealed that the panoramas miss Ribecourt by about a mile! Just my luck!

Still, there's always 2007...

Received my copy today and very impressed so far and I haven't even looked at the CD's. Only took 5 days to get here to.

As I understand it, from Peter himself, the Somme book will be out in October.

Next installment - the official publication date is 11th Nov 2006, so should be starting to hit shops sometime during the week prior with an official PR launch probably late October (he says tentatively).

Cheers

Max - not sure if a reprint is planned, but there is a copy available at abebooks.co.uk for just under £40

I'd say £40 was a good price as 'Battlefields' seems to be going up in price rapidly!

I think I see it on Amazon going for £60 second hand recently.

Does anyone know if The Battlefields of the First World War is due for reprint

Am afraid that, at the moment, no reprint is planned for this book. So if you find a second had one, snap it up.

Battle of Arras volume is due out some time in the latter half of 2008

cheers

What areas does the first volume cover?

TT - the chapter titles for the first vol. are -

The Camera Goes To War

The War Begins - Early Battles and the Belgian Coast

The Salient - 1st and 2nd Ypres and Messines Ridge

Third Ypres

The Forgotten Front - Armentieres to Givenchy Les La Bassee

Coalfields and Craters - The Gohelle Battlefields

Vimy Ridge and Arras

The Somme

Armour and Armistice - Cambrai and 1918

It's in a similar format to the Somme and Passchendaele volumes, but bigger, and also includes two CD Roms containing all the panoramas.
