@FROGSMILE may be able to suggest whether it says REMOUNTS ? As he was born 1893 he could have served in another unit prewar perhaps?

I don’t think that the shoulder title shown relates to remounts, charlie, but instead to his previous infantry regiment.

I don’t know Charlie, but any Irish connection would suggest the Leinster’s, Connaught’s, or Royal.Irish, as all had curved titles of around the size seen in the photo concerned.
