Right.

His service records are on Ancestry.

The entries for his last weeks of service are:

Undated entry stating he had died of Malignant Endocarditis.

17/9/19 - 1/10/19 Leave to UK

21/10/19  Admitted to Military Hospital

11/11/19 Discharged as unfit for service.

This page confirms:

Disability: VDH [Valvular disease of the Heart] 60% disability. Aggravated by war service.

He dies a couple of months later from Endocarditis, a known complication of VDH.

Black and white/barn door/ open and shut  case.

Submit it.

Guaranteed to be accepted.

Death certificate will only confirm what's in his SR, but CWGC may insist on it.

  • BereniceUK changed the title to Percy W. Singleton, "died from illness contracted during active service in the Great War" - not on CWGC?

BerniceUK,

Can I suggest that you forward this case to @Terry Denham at the 'In From the Cold' project?

IFTC has gained acceptance for hundreds of previously forgotten soldiers.

Will do. I was going to order a copy of his death certificate, but if you feel that that's not necessary, I won't.

What was the outcome with regard to Percy Singleton? I don't see him on the IFCP list.
