The painting is of Rotes Schloss.

For some explanataion about all this, I refer to the book for which I did a lot of research about the German side "Bayernwald. Het Croonaertbos in de Eerste Wereldoorlog" (yes, only in Dutch).

His EK1 was dated 4 August 1918.

Thomas Weber's Hitler's First War is a fascinating book on the subject which may be of interest and which I don't think has been mentioned in this thread.
