Ken Lees Posted 25 November , 2019 Share Posted 25 November , 2019 How odd! They look OK, but don't take me to the correct documents. Try this: https://archive.cloud.cwgc.org/archive/doc/doc2008323.JPG - What is the letter after 57c.T.14.? https://archive.cloud.cwgc.org/archive/doc/doc2008268.JPG - What is the number after 62c.A.? https://archive.cloud.cwgc.org/archive/doc/doc2008500.JPG - Any idea what this map reference is supposed to be? laughton Posted 25 November , 2019 Author Share Posted 25 November , 2019 no idea no idea that is address of the cemetery and the 474 appears to have been added later - may be a "Grave #". Since it was a Memorial Plot we know it was within the boundaries of the cemetery.

Since it was a Memorial Plot we know it was within the boundaries of the cemetery. But, there are other references to the Memorial Plot, which as I understand it, were the location the cross(es) were found and where there were no bodies retrieved. The location given is as per the map below, so could the bodies originally have been anywhere in that square?
jay dubaya Posted 26 November , 2019 Share Posted 26 November , 2019 (edited) 1. for what it's worth I think it's a 'd'. The 9th Nofolks with known graves from this date are buried at Guillemont Road (29), Serre Road No.2 (4) and Guards Cemetery (2) I cannot open the page for the Guards Cemetery and can't figure out why! The others all appear to have been recovered from T.14.d. 2. again for what it's worth I think this one's a '6' there's an appearance of overstamping with a lowercase 'y'. Looking at other 20th Kings (same criteria as above), Guillemont Road (20), Delville Wood (1), Flatiron Copse (1) and Serre Road No.2 (1). 57c.S.30 appears most but several were recovered from 62c.A.6 (directly below 57c.S.30) 3. mmmmmm don't known, the first man on the sheet Pte Chantler is actually buried in the cemetery (see doc 2008286) so one wonders if the '474' relates to this.
