Remembered Today:

RDC Coys and some of their Locations

johnboy

Recommended Posts

Whilst working on another project , I was going through some service records and found in the files some locations for a few coys. I have looked for a list of coys and locations to no avail. I thought I would post what I have found incase it is of interest to anybody.

I always thought that the RDC was for men too old for active service so it surprised me that many men had served at the front , been wounded and awarded SWB.

That's turning into a very useful list. If you turn up anything relating to Wiltshire, I'll be interested.Just checked my notes and all I have are references to unspecified RDC units guarding PoW camps in the county.

It wa just lucky that Daily Orders  were kept  in some cases. I can't search by location ,but if I find more I will post them.

You've some way to go with your list of PoW working camps, Johnboy. Graham Mark in Prisoners of War in British Hands during WWI lists some 645!

Wish you had told me that earlier and about the book Would have saved me many hours.

Over the years I've mentioned Graham Mark's book a dozen or so times in the Forum, sometimes referring to its list of working camps. My most recent allusions were on September  5 (post 47) and September 8 (post 59) in your own thread

But it's stopped you from getting into any trouble.
