hi folks!

 

just been doing more research on my family tree and noticed my great great uncle alexander j Knowles was killed in the first world war.

 

number 355486 Highland light infantry

 

just wondering if anyone would be able to help with some information about him and maybe find a photo of him.

The Glasgow Highlanders suffered numerous casualties on this day in an attack at Villers-Guislain. It would be worth looking up the battalion War Diary on Ancestry or via The National Archives for info, though Other Ranks were typically not mentioned by name.
