BigRab Posted 20 April , 2019 Share Posted 20 April , 2019 I was asked by a friend why are there no Privates in the Foot Guards only Guardsmen. When did the Foot Guards being using the rank of Guardsmen instead of Private and why the change? From my research into the boys from my village I have a couple of Scots Guards but they are Privates one sadly killed October 1918 but I have a Grenadier Guard killed on the 30th July 1917, his gravestone says Guardsmen.
