I think folk in the last posts haven't noticed that Terry's (and other's) work on this was in 2005. The work that must be applauded now is that of Chris - The Gravefinder General - Harvey who has put places to names of where at least 5 of these men are actually buried. Well done Chris, only 9 to go!!

Sorry Chris - a typo - honest. The other Chris is the Witchfinder General for Greater Manchester isn't he. That's where my fingers must have got mixed up!!

OK. Can I claim an impending OFSTED as an excuse for getting my Harveys, Hartleys, Chris and Johns all over the place. I am brain dead and will be until the b******rs have come and gone. I actually woke up in the middle of the night realising that I had the wrong Hartley in Manchester! At least I got your profession right John. :P Pity you can't make Birmingham John, I might buy your book instead of a pint for you - can I have it for the same price?

Well done. Remind me what the criteria are for a CWGC commemoration of someone who died after medical discharge. I may be close to finding the final resting place of Sydney A. Olive of the Canadian Engineers who was badly wounded at Second Ypres, was discharged and died in June 1918. A long time afterwards but he made it onto our school war memorial. It now appears that he died in Bury, not Toronto as I originally believed.

Basically cause of death has to be linked to cause of discharge (or at least attributable to/aggravated by service).
