I can't make out the shoulder titles, but the buttons on his khaki uniform appear to be black as well, which would indicate a rifle regiment such as the Cameronians. Now for the khaki "drill" with shorts, brass buttons quite evident. As for the badge in the first picture, the negative must have been reversed. He is wearing it on the wrong side!
