JMB1943 Posted 29 April Author Share Posted 29 April Navydoc, Methinks #8985, so a newbie for the list, thanks. Regards, JMB
t.ryan Posted 7 May Share Posted 7 May JMB, Just back from walk/sailabout along the west coast of Aussie. on the big canoe. Anzac day dawn service on the ship at sea was a bonus for us which we much appreciated. Phil B. sent me a couple of smiling tiger numbers for a check and upload if they were new to the list. I believe # 7062 is a new one. Cheers, TR
JMB1943 Posted 7 May Author Share Posted 7 May Mr TR, Big canoe……west coast……Anzac Day at dawn……sounds idyllic……you lucky lad! (And no long grass there in which to be ambushed). The Smiling Tiger circus hasn’t been seen since you left, so very nice to get this new one. Do you get the feeling that most of them have been flushed out now? t.ryan Posted 8 May Share Posted 8 May JMB, Unless we come across a site that no one here has found yet, I am thinking that the majority have been found. We now have a few good hunters and gatherers looking for the stray ones so hopefully there are still a few smiling tigers out there that need to be rounded up. I know Phil B. is very keen to keep up the hunt to extend his breeding program on these smiling faces. Not sure what to make of this one that has been caged in the too hard basket ( blurred), but I am thinking #2764. Cheers, TR

JMB1943 Posted 8 May Author Share Posted 8 May TR & Navydoc, Given all of those different views of the stampings, I think that I could live with #2764. Duly added to the register. Regards, JMB

t.ryan Posted 10 May Share Posted 10 May # 106 is a nice clear new smiling tiger for the list. We also have # 107 which makes it one of only a few with consecutive numbers showing on the list. The other 2, # 2851 and # 6339 we already have listed and photo's of. The # 6339 bayonet and scabbard looks to be in above average nick. The overall count is slowly cat creeping towards that 325 mark. Cheers, TR
navydoc16 Posted 10 May Share Posted 10 May (edited) @t.ryan apologies, I double checked but still stuffed it up. At least we got one more kind regards g Edited 10 May by navydoc16

t.ryan Posted 10 May Share Posted 10 May Good round up. You must have found my secret smiling tiger hunting spot down the back paddock. Smiling tiger numbers 290, 1685,1966, and I think 8289, the first 8 a little sketchy but looks correct. See what the boss thinks!. That is another 4 new numbers for JMBs list, which a quick count puts the tally since last update at 319 I think. Cheers, TR

t.ryan Posted 10 May Share Posted 10 May I make that smiling tiger # 4937 which is also another new number for the list. JMB; the next target of 325 is starting to look good. Cheers, TR

t.ryan Posted 11 May Share Posted 11 May Yes; a nice clear smiling tiger # 8741 it is. Must say you are on a roll with them at the moment, just when we were thinking that the supply was running out. Cheers, TR

t.ryan Posted 12 May Share Posted 12 May (edited) Well done again. Another 2 nice clear examples; smiling tiger #s 3132 and 5620 as called and both new numbers. If they keep coming in pairs like those above then JMB will soon be looking for the next goal. I presume these are coming from over seas somewhere as I am not seeing anything new showing up here of late; unless on face book or some other source that I don't follow. navydoc16 Posted 12 May Share Posted 12 May @t.ryan Just going around the normal places online that I go looking for rare bits and pieces. But some old auction listings and things for some of the ones above. I think FB is mostly mined out now kind regards g
t.ryan Posted 12 May Share Posted 12 May (edited) Just done a bit of a search and came across this one mentioned in a different post back in 2014 here, overlooked it before I think; thinking it was #2278 at the time. Not the best of photo's but smiling tiger # 2279 is another new number. The first 2 is struck slightly lighter on the 3 bayonets. We have a photo of # 2278 and #2280 so this will make the first 3 consecutive numbers on the list. Loose clarity if I edit photo any more. It has been a good week so far with what I believe is 13 new smiling tigers being rounded up to be added to the list. Cheers, TR Edited 12 May by t.ryan
navydoc16 Posted 12 May Share Posted 12 May @t.ryan That one was fairly clear to begin with, but is there any blury ones we never bothered to translate? I wouldn’t mine having a crack kind regards g
