corisande Posted 23 December , 2019 Share Posted 23 December , 2019 Sometimes you can be lucky in local press with a full report. For example
corisande Posted 23 December , 2019 Share Posted 23 December , 2019 Actually there is a lot of information available in local press. For instance I tried seaching for C de G with Palm, and got a number of detailed actions like Keep ForeignGong in business for months going through the optons
Keith_history_buff Posted 29 June , 2020 Share Posted 29 June , 2020 I have asked the question as to whether medal citations, be it for the Croix de Guerre or the Médaille Militaire or similar, can still be sourced from the French Ministry of Defence, and for those who have successfully done so to explain how they did it. The deafening silence of zero response would imply a negative confirmation that this service is no longer available.
Keith_history_buff Posted 4 July , 2020 Share Posted 4 July , 2020 In theory it should be possible, by writing to the following:Centre des archives du personnel militaireCaserne BernadottePlace de Verdun64023 Pau cedex Mention on website:https://www.defense.gouv.fr/actualites/memoire-et-culture/le-centre-des-archives-du-personnel-militaire-de-pau-capm

Keith_history_buff Posted 22 November , 2020 Share Posted 22 November , 2020 Hello Robert. The laws around data privacy are to protect the rights of the living, so I do not envisage any issues around the reproduction of a citation from 100 years ago, which relates to a man who is no longer alive. If there are conditions precedent for the information to be given out, I do not doubt that the powers that be will let you know, such as a limit of ten requests per year?
