Ah, I think it's..

Well done guys. Yes, with Henry Dakin he developed the ‘Carrel-Dakin method,’ said to be a solution to sepsis. Wikipedia tells us, ‘Between the two World Wars, the preparation was often called "Carrel–Dakin solution," even though Dakin did the bulk of the research work that led to its formulation. The name of Carrel was dropped after World War II, presumably due to his active involvement in eugenics movements and the advocacy of elimination of "inferior" humans’.

Blimey.

STOP PRESS! The Election is upon us!

But yes: Second Afghan War, Second Boer War, Great War; and a proto-Portillo moment (if such a thing were possible in pre-broadcast age).

The WiT has been solved. He is Alexander Sprot - he dislodged old Squiffy Asquith in East Fife in the Coupon Election, though neither of them had the Coupon.

  • 2 weeks later...

Old Keir Starmer would appear to have got himself into a right palaver over the Diane Abbott carryon. Diane Abbott - never mentioned, it seems, without the addition of the word ‘trailblazer’.

Anyway: who on earth is this ? ? ?

Said to be a ‘first’. Though perhaps the true ‘first’ was a more Sombre individual.

Would this WIT be someone involved in politics, particularly something to do within London (as per reference to current SKS/DA) during the GW?

He was certainly involved in politics, but by the time of the First war he had nothing to do with London.
