Chasemuseum Posted 16 November , 2014 Share Posted 16 November , 2014 Agree with Nigel and Paul, its a 60pr. Its on the Mk I carriage, you can make out the slide system which allows the cradle to be moved back along the carriage for transport, although the cradle appears to still be in the battery position in this photo. This implies that the gun is either damaged or only being moved a short distance. The wheels on both the gun and limber are No12. standard for both 60pr and 6-in 26cwt howitzer. 8 horse team arranged as 4 pairs, using draught equipment RA1904. This would only be for moving the gun on relatively level, metalled roads at a walk. Usually 12 horses as either 6x2 or 3x4 if any cross country work is required. Again implies the gun is only being moved a short distance. For various reasons I would pick the photo as Western Front or in the UK.
