Mark Hone Posted 9 May , 2020 Share Posted 9 May , 2020 Thank you for the continuing further information and more details of the Concert Party depicted in the photograph in Tom Cartman's scrapbook. Incidentally, the original of the scrapbook is currently on display at the Fusilier Museum, Bury as part of the 'Stories of Fallen Swans' exhibition. Sadly, of course, this cannot be visited at the moment. This July will see the 80th anniversary of Tom Cartman's death in the 'Arandora Star' disaster. Ian Scott Posted 15 December , 2020 Share Posted 15 December , 2020 Further information I have found indicates that some members of 'The Duds' continued to perform after the War. They appeared on Radio between the Wars The Radio Times, November 25, 1927, p 444 ‘Programmes for Friday, December 2nd' to be broadcast from Manchester: ‘7.45 THE DUD’S CONCERT PARTY Ralph Collis Harold Brayfield W. B. Macmillan Eric G. Fowler Reta Fishlock Phoebe Hughes Pauline Parry W. Wilson Redding Produced by Ralph Collis' Harold Brayfield was one of the wartime 'Duds'. from Amateur Wireless, November 8, 1930, p 722 ‘The "Duds" Concert Party, which is to broadcast for Midland Regional listeners on November 25, was formed by members of a battalion of the King's Liverpool Regiment. After the War the party was reorganised and at least four of the original members will be heard.’
