jhill Posted 21 August , 2007 Share Posted 21 August , 2007 The Hill 70 operation has been curiously hidden from the public eye. I, too, have a relation who was wounded there (actually on August 15th, a bit to the north of your fellows). I have just started going through the documents to figure out what exactly happened. I wonder how many others have a similar experience.
Terry Posted 21 August , 2007 Share Posted 21 August , 2007 From what little I have read on the Hill 70 fighting, it was a highly successful batle for Currie and the Canadian Corps. Perhaps that's why we don't hear much about it. People tend to dwell on the bloody defeats.

Langdon Posted 20 August , 2017 Share Posted 20 August , 2017 I thought I'd put a trench map here (dated Nov 1917) to these tributes - thanks for them. I understand the 28th & 29th Battalions (6th Brigade) attacked and held the northern part of Cinnabar Trench (Sq 8) and Nun's Alley (Sq 2) before being forced back.. I am just reading Vancouver’s 29th and L/Col Latta’s(then Major) account of the battle. The map is a perfect aid to put it into perspective.
