Thanks for both your replies I have a small zoom on my camera enough to get those names I want on the high parts of the Menin Gate etc. but I don't think it is near enough. I will send you an E-Mail when I get the chance and we can discuss it more. Gilbert could you send me a scan by E-Mail and I will tell you if it is.

As I expect you'll know the great pioneer of aerial archaeology O. G. S. Crawford worked with aerial photographs of the trenches in 3rd Army maps, and then later as an observer in the RFC - and it was this that gave him the idea for aerial archaeology. (He also used to collect flints etc. from the trenches)

I'm writing a book about Crawford and am trying to find out about aerial photographs of crop-sites etc. of the Western front now - any leads gratefully received!
