apwright Posted 18 November , 2019 Share Posted 18 November , 2019 (edited) Chris, M.H. is the abbreviation used on the old Austrian Empire maps for Meierhof, basically meaning a farm. Same meaning as Ottoman Turkish çiftlik. I guess this map was prepared using the names from the Austrian map, and no-one bothered to check what the place was actually called. Adrian Edited to add: The Ottoman name is variously transliterated on Latin-alphabet maps of the period as Keseci/Kesedži/Kesedji/Kesidži/Kesitzi/Kizitzi Çiftlik/Čiflik/Tsiflik/Tchiflik. It was renamed Sidirohori (Σιδηροχώρι, "Iron Village") in 1923. Edited 18 November , 2019 by apwright
