lmcunningham1 Posted 4 April , 2010 Author Share Posted 4 April , 2010 Thel RAF 'brass' badge came into use after the Great War, I forget if 1919 or 1920. Not possible is it that RA was on paperwork and that it should be RAF? Regards, Paul. J.G. Hopkins Posted 5 April , 2010 Share Posted 5 April , 2010 Is it possible that the trooper in hussar uniform is Royal Horse Artillery? I ask knowing nothing about uniforms, but knowing that the RHA did use the P1908 cavalry trooper's sword. This could fit with the Royal Artillery information Linda has. Patrick ODwyer Posted 5 April , 2010 Share Posted 5 April , 2010 It is a good point Jonathan. The RHA had more frogging across the tunic than the standard 5 or 6 (must check!) for Hussars (as shown in the image)

Patrick ODwyer Posted 6 April , 2010 Share Posted 6 April , 2010 You can try the Medal Index Cards on the NA or Ancestry websites or post full names here and people will try to find them for you or see if any service papers exist. You could try the museum at Hendon (RAF) or that of the 19th Hussars.
