trenchtrotter Posted 10 April , 2010 Author Share Posted 10 April , 2010 Thanks Nige...thats what I thought however 6 N N ? I have cleaned the rest this afternoon and have loads to search. I have stacks of service number and rank only details..... I also have a load of no hopers either which is sad but inevitable. Could you upload Talbots marker here as reference? Andrew Upton Posted 11 April , 2010 Share Posted 11 April , 2010 PS I am told the big brass buckle with three loops is from a Lewis Pannier / webbing? Correct, see post 11: http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...mp;hl=Kronprinz
trenchtrotter Posted 11 April , 2010 Author Share Posted 11 April , 2010 Thanks Andrew. I believe these pouches were not introduced till 1917? If so post Somme 1916 battle? Any knowledge? Regards TT
Nigel Marshall Posted 12 April , 2010 Share Posted 12 April , 2010 TT, On the marker which has the date on it is it possible that the strip has broken immediately before the number 6? I ask because using Geoff's Search Engine I cannot get a match on any Canadians at Regina Trench, nor any Australians at Courcellette for 06/09/1916. There are many Canadians who died on 26/09/1916 in Regina Trench though. Cheers, Nigel
Andrew Upton Posted 12 April , 2010 Share Posted 12 April , 2010 I believe these pouches were not introduced till 1917? If so post Somme 1916 battle? Any knowledge? As per Grovetowns post (no.3) in the same thread: "Introduction was 28 May 1917 (List of Changes 18892)."
