Could you look for these for me? The last one I apologise in advance as I have only very sketchy info

Ernest Eric Walker, 23041 8th or 9th Sherwood Foresters. Born 1889 and husband of Emily JAne Walker of Leyton Avenue, Skegby.

James Robert Kettle, 126819 Royal Engineers, husband of Emily Kettle of Brownlow Avenue, Mansfield.

George Hadfield 31662 16th Btn Royal Welsh Fusiliers, Huthwaite.

Very grateful

Carol

Carol

Only Hadfield listed in Huthwaite is Albert at 67 Newcastle Street - no service details given

James Robert Kettle is listed at 39 Brownlow Road - 126819 Dvr Base Sig Co RE

Ernest Walker is listed Leyton avenue - no house number of service details

Cheers

Thanks Woody

That might be a great help as I have had difficulty finding George Hadfield- I now can try looking on census details for Albert as they may have been related.

Shame about there being no service details for Ernest as he served in both the 9th and the 8th Sherwood Foresters and it was an outside chance of narrowing down a transfer date.

Thanks once again

Carol

Hi Woody,

Can I make use of your very kind offer to do a couple of look-ups? I have addresses for 2 Nottinghamshire men;

I have a photo of 'Mr & Mrs Charlton' (he's a Pte in the N&DR) and their 5 children. They've written their address as '20 Cromwell St, Mansfield, Notts'. The photo probably dates from about 1917.

I also have a photo of 'Mr. G. Marsden' (aka "The 'Thorsby' Nut", apparently!). His address is written as 'Black Hills, Ollerton, Nr. Newark, Notts'. He appears to be a gunner in the RA, and he's serving in France in 1918.

I'd love to be able to get some details on these men. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a complete set of copies of the Nottinghamshire Absent Voters Lists from 1918.

I am happy to do look ups for individuals by area or address. Also for anyone researching

areas of Notts, I am happy to provide scans or copies.

There are many Notts and Derbys men on the lists.

Hi Woody

Would you be able to check out grandad please?

Reginald Simpson, address possibly Sneinton- Albert Sq, Henry St. Or maybe his army father's place at Pole St Notts. His army uncle was at Keswick St Sneinton

1/7th Battalion later MGC

Service No 5014 and later 106456

enlisted 18/9/15 demobbed 14/2/19

His DOB on his silver war badge record is wrong (lied about age to join up)

correctly DOB is 26/2/1898 which I know puts him too young. But if he kept up the pretense of being older...well maybe he'll be on the AVL.

Thanks Janet
